App State’s commitment to employee well-being is reflected in the ongoing collaboration between Health Promotion for Faculty and Staff (HPFS) and campus partners to provide convenient, on-campus preventive health services. Through annual events like general health screenings and seasonal flu vaccine clinics, faculty and staff are encouraged to prioritize their health—without needing to leave campus.
These events are designed to reduce access barriers, promote early detection, and connect participants with valuable wellness resources. Whether you're looking to check in on your vital signs, explore mental health support, or stay protected during flu season, these offerings help meet you where you are in your health journey.
2025-2026 Employee Health Events
App State employees are invited to participate in free health and wellness opportunities offered throughout the year:
Faculty and Staff General Health Screenings & Flu Clinics
In partnership with the Department of Nursing, HPFS will be offering annual General Health Screenings and Flu vaccines to faculty and staff across multiple campus locations. Junior-level nursing students will be conducting the 30-minute screenings under supervision, providing personalized attention and follow-up support. Flu vaccine appointments are also available. AppHealthCare will be providing the flu vaccine, and our very own App State Nursing students will be administering the flu shots to registered employees.
Flu vaccine
- The available registration times are in 15-minute intervals (registration required).
- We will send a reminder prior to this event that will include the AppHealthCare consent form that we hope everyone will bring to the event completed.
- AppHealthCare will file this claim through each individual's health insurance. If no health insurance is provided on the day of, individuals will be responsible for the cost.
- You will also need your ID and insurance card, and APP Card.
Available Health Screening Components
- The available registration times are in 30-minute intervals (registration required).
- Vital signs (with emphasis on blood pressure)
- Vision screening
- Blood glucose
- Lipid profile available as a $15 add-on
- A fingerstick sampling will provide rapid, accurate results, providing immediate awareness and identification of cardiovascular and diabetes health risks in only 5 minutes.
- Lipid Profile measures:
- Total cholesterol (TC) is a measure of the total amount of cholesterol in the blood,
- High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol ("good cholesterol"),
- Triglycerides or TRG (fatty acids and glycerol that circulate in the blood and are stored as body fat),
- TC/HDL ratio, non-HDL cholesterol, and estimates the level of LDL cholesterol (“bad cholesterol”)."
- Fasting is not required.
- Biometrics (height, weight, waist circumference, BMI, muscle mass in pounds, and body fat as a % )
- Mental health screening
- Health education and referrals, as needed
